Like Christmas … Valentines Day was kinda skinny at our house. Which pretty much means we bought cards and that was about it, though I did pick up a couple of very inexpensive things. And you know what? So what.
I don’t feel guilty for not buying diamonds or expensive flowers. I cooked … a nice dinner I hope. We spent some time with my mom, and later with Andie’s dad.
I guess not having a job is really bringing home the fact that these holidays don’t have to be huge spend-fests. I know that’s what the card and jewelry and flower people want us to think, but it just ain’t necessarily so.
I know I won’t be out of work forever, and I hope by the time next Valentines Day, I’ll be able to go back to Allens’ Jewelers and find something nice for Andie. We’ll see how that works out, but I’m hopeful. If I can’t then things are going to be much more dire than they are now.
I’m going to leave it at that. Happy Valentines’ Day. I’ll write more tomorrow.
