Late

I don’t know how it got this late.  Suddenly, it’s after 11:00, and if I want to get up early to ride in the morning, I need to get to bed.

I rode this morning, and all was good until about the last mile.  The traffic around the school, the buses, and the self-important SUV moms who’ve dropped their kids off at school don’t take too kindly to a bicycle on the road in the morning.  Has the world, even here at the beach, changed so much that kids can’t walk to school.

GM Not to sound too much like Geezerman … but I did walk over a mile to school at Parkview, in all kinds of weather, and yes, there were uphill segments each way.  It seems like no one can let, or will let, or insists, that their kids walk to school any more.  Sure, there are one or two hardy souls trudging along, but for the most part, it’s mostly-empty SUV’s leaving the parking lot.

It was compounded this morning by the little old man walking along the sidewalk (the nerve) so I couldn’t ride in the street … I couldn’t ride on the sidewalk … I finally took the street, but not before waiting a while for an opening.

Why is it so damn hard to get a little exercise in the morning?

The good news is the construction that’s been going on all summer on 1st street is finally about 2/3 done.  It’s a little easier to ride once I get going.  The only bad part is that last mile.

In any event, the bike is in the garage, so I don’t have to fight with the sprinklers in the morning … my lunch is made … coffee’s ready for final assembly, and I need to get to bed.  Vicissitudes not withstanding … I’ll be out on the bike in the morning.
