But we’re not here for the politics. Far from it. Jenni is graduating from High School tomorrow, and we came to be a part of the festivities. This post is likely to be short, because the day has been long.
Tonight was the Baccalaureate Ceremony, and having the opportunity to hear Jenni play her solo was well worth getting up at 6:00, being at the airport by 7:30, waiting through a 3 person line at Budget Rent-a-Car for 35 minutes, and having Extended Stay America screw up our reservations. Once we were in the auditorium, seated, and comfier than we’d been for hours, it was all OK.
Jen was the last soloist of the program, playing just after the keynote speaker (who was pretty darn good). She played the Andante and Scherzando movements from Gaubert’s “Nocturne” … and played it beautifully. The best of the program, IMHO, but I might be just a tad biased.
The only downside was some rude woman sitting close chatting on her cell phone during Jen’s solo. I tried hard not to let it distract me.
So, tomorrow is the actual graduation at DAR Constitution Hall in DC. I’m looking forward to shooting in there, as well. We’ll drive up into the city tomorrow to reconnoiter parking.
I won’t have all the pics up on Flickr for a while. I’ll try to massage and post tonight’s captures tomorrow. Dinner was at a place called The Jukebox Diner … and Elvis smiled down from on high … but we’ll get to that later.
As for now, I need some sleep.
Update: Pics are posted on Flickr.
