More pictures for you from our weekend trip to Virginia for Senior Night and the Marching Band Festival are here. We started at this funky diner, and spent a couple of very pleasant hours in Winchester, Virginia, before the Marching Atoms played at the Festival.
Unfortunately, they didn’t do as well as they had hoped. They were givin a rating of “Exceptional”, which is not as high as “Superior”, which means they missed being an Honor Band for the year. There were many, many sad faces, and Jen’s was among them. While I understand their disappointment, I was more proud of my daughter and her ability to lead the band than you can possibly imagine. She was so confident, and had so much fun, that I hope that she remembers that, rather then the sting of not achieving a certain rating. Yes, the accolades are nice, but that’s not the sum total of the accomplishment.
So yes, it’s fall in Northern Virginia. It is very pretty here this time of the year, and it’s not so bad when it snows, either, but I don’t want to deal with that on a daily, or annual, basis ever again. I’ve had my fill of snow, but it was very nice to see the changing leaves. It will also be nice to get back to Florida, particularly as October comes to a close. As hurricane season winds down, it’s pretty much the best time of year to be there.
